Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger

The Glass family is peculiar: all six children were “young geniuses” and were raised to read and think about all sorts of obscure things. Now the youngest, Franny, is focused on forgetting all that and letting go of herself as she prays “the Jesus Prayer.” Her family isn’t sure what to make of this new obsession or what to say to her.

As her brother Zooey talks to her and thinks about how the things he has read have shaped him, he may agree with Fanny’s a bit. But in the end he disagrees with her desire to leave it all behind her and find something transcendent outside her life.

Where do you find meaning in your life? How does it all connect?
